VIDEO: This time-lapse footage shows the first day of the Costa Concordia salvage operation.
20 months after it ran aground off the coast of Italy, the cruise ship has finally been pulled upright.
Engineers worked late into the night, to right the hundred and fourteen thousand tonne ship.
32 people died when the Costa Concordia ran aground in January last year. The bodies of two of the victims have never been found. The ship will eventually be towed away and scrapped
The BBC's Alan Johnson was there to watch the progress.
